The Davidson Football program has seen a resurgence in success this year, reminding Wildcat Nation of the ‘69 Tangerine Bowl and the undefeated season of 2000. Eddie Nicholson ‘79, Davidson’s version of Ken Burns, has been documenting the football and basketball programs, and will moderate a discussion of the football class of ‘81, which had a great deal of success. Alvin Atkinson ’81 will discuss his four touchdowns and 274 yards total offense against Furman (his 220 yards is still #2 all-time single game rushing). Gifford Piercy still holds several receiving records, including most receptions in a career, most receiving yards in a season, average receptions in a season (20 and 40 receptions per season). Expect others from the Class of 81’s football squads to join the conversation, highlighted with rarely seen footage of these Cats in action!
