Lafayette Wetlands Partnership Riverpoint Playground & Park 6050 Newport Ave. Norfolk, VA 23505 Map and Directions
The Lafayette Wetlands Partnership is a citizen-based initiative that mentors groups and individuals that want to restore wetland habitat along the Lafayette River in Norfolk.
Volunteers will be assisting the Lafayette Wetlands Partnership on a wetlands restoration project at Riverpoint Playground & Park in Norfolk.
This lovely park has two sides bordering the Lafayette River. Over the past five years, the Lafayette Wetlands Partnership has led the restoration of the park's wetlands and the planting of over 200 native shrubs and trees as well as several pollinator gardens. The Partnership has plant identification signs to install at the site, to educate the public on the ecological benefits of native plants. The work will involve digging small holes with post-hole diggers, then installing the plant signs. Other site maintenance work such as weeding and vine removal may also be done. Tools, gloves, snacks and water will be provided.
Children of all ages are welcome - the project is at a park and playground so they can have fun while we work!
Please note the rain date is Saturday, April 13.
Please register below by Monday, April 1.
