Detroit Horse Power 4414 51st St. Detroit, MI 48210 Map and Directions
Detroit Horse Power uses the power of horses to expand opportunities for Detroit's youth. The organization teaches urban youth to ride and care for horses as a way to develop critical skills that will set them up for future success. Their planned urban equestrian center will be built on repurposed vacant land in Detroit and offer year-round youth programming while supporting a stronger community.
We will help Detroit Horse Power prepare for their summer riding camps for Detroit youth by organizing, taking inventory, and re-packing equipment that has been donated to the organization. The inventory is stored in the home of the executive director, so we'll be working in a residential area in southwest Detroit. Street parking is available and there are no age limits. Feel free to bring friends and dress casually.
For questions and to register contact Amanda Silver '15 at 914-318-1446 or amsilverny@gmail.com.
Davidson Volunteer Week is made possible by DavidsonServes for Life, our volunteer-led alumni and families civic engagement initiative.
