Trees Atlanta Service Project

Saturday, April 14, 2018
8:45 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Trees Atlanta
Location:
Bankhead/Grove Park area of northwest Atlanta (exact location TBA)

We’ll enjoy a service morning mulching and watering trees.

It is important to arrive on time as they only provide one demonstration (it takes 10 minutes) and every volunteer needs to see it. Everyone must stay for the entire project (and not leave early). We will volunteer rain or shine, so please check the weather beforehand and come prepared. Wear outdoor work clothes: closed-toe shoes or boots (waterproof is best) and long pants such as jeans (no leggings or athletic wear); bring water in a reusable container (please no one-time-use plastic bottles!), sunscreen, and bug spray as needed. Trees Atlanta will provide all necessary tools and instruction, though you may prefer to bring your own work gloves. Tree planting is hard work, so be sure to eat a good breakfast and come prepared to work hard (and bring a snack if you think you might lose steam). This event is for both adults and families…a great parent-child bonding opportunity while helping plant/nourish the seeds of service in the next generation (plus get school community service hours at the same time)!  This project is best for ages 12 and older; volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian, and all volunteers between the ages of 16 and 17 who are not accompanied by a parent/guardian must have a parent/guardian sign a waiver for them. Of course, adults without kids are welcome too. There will be an optional alumni-and families bonding lunch after.

To register and for questions contact Chris Pace '93 at chris.pace@emory.edu  or 410-530-0777. Attendance is limited to the first 20 people who register.
