Davidson alumni will spend one hour learning about the work of Augustine Literacy Project-Charlotte in 17 CMS elementary schools. Augustine Literacy Project's mission is to improve the reading, writing, and spelling skills of low-income students who struggle with literacy by providing free, long-term one-on-one instruction from highly trained volunteer tutors. Augustine tutors, primarily serving 1st and 2nd graders, use a sequential, research-based, multi-sensory approach that gets results. Potential tutors, donors and advocates are welcome, as well as non-alum friends (ages 18+). This is an information session, not a training session, and no previous teach experience is necessary. Join Davidson alumni who are currently involved: Tom Caldwell '68, Kelly Reed Keeling '91, Koren Sickles Crawford '91, Sally Gantt Davis '94, and Natalie Bombard Akin '05.
