In Denver to attend a conference, Dr. Heyer has graciously offered her time to gather with the Denver chapter and share updates on both her work and life at Davidson College. She is the current chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.

Dr. Heyer came to Davidson in 2000 after a postdoctoral position in the Center for Computational and Experimental Genomics at the University of Southern California. She received her B.S. and M.S. from the University of Texas at Arlington, and was an operations research analyst before doctoral work at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She lectures widely on bioinformatics. As a member of the genomics program, she regularly supervises student projects at the intersection of mathematics, biology, and computer science. She coauthored two textbooks with faculty from Davidson's Biology Department. Dr. Heyer is the founder of Project PRONTO, in which Davidson students build web tools to enhance the student experience.

Light bites provided. Cash bar.

Please RSVP below by Wednesday, November 2.
