About Dr. Sallie Permar:
Dr. Sallie Permar '97 is the Nancy C. Paduano Professor and Chair of Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine and Pediatrician-in-Chief at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She also holds a position as Professor of Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis at the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences.
Dr. Permar earned her M.D. from Harvard Medical School and a Ph.D. in Microbiology/Immunology from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Children’s Hospital in Boston. Prior to her current roles, she served as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and later joined the Duke University School of Medicine faculty, where she was named the Wilburt C Davison Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics.
With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Permar is a physician-scientist dedicated to the prevention and treatment of neonatal viral infections. She leads a laboratory that investigates immune protection against vertically-transmitted viral pathogens, including HIV and cytomegalovirus (CMV).
