Read2Succeed (R2S) trains motivated volunteers to help children K through 3rd grades learn to read.
Davidson Asheville chapter members will spend one hour learning about the work of R2S at a Meet and Greet. Learn how being a Read To Succeed Tutor can support students in achieving grade level reading proficiency by the completion of the third grade. This is an information session, not a training session, and no previous teaching experience is necessary. Most GPS systems do not give accurate directions to the Read2Suceed office. A complimentary lunch will be provided directly following the Meet and Greet.

MountainTrue champions resilient forests, clean waters and healthy communities in Western North Carolina. Julie Mayfield ’89 currently serves as the co-director and has worked for MountainTrue since 2008. Other Davidson connections include Susan Bean '06, community engagement manager and Catie Morris '17, AmeriCorps volunteer.
Join us and help restore native plant communities by controlling non-native invasive plants at Richmond Hill Park. This is the City of Asheville’s only forested park and is home to many special native plant and animal species! Volunteers help to stop the spread of harmful non-native invasive species and return native species to the unique park. MountainTrue will provide all gloves, equipment and necessary instructions. Please bring snacks, water and a rain jacket and wear long pants, long sleeve shirt and closed-toe shoes (no open shoes or sandals allowed for safety).
